Back To School Clothing Hauls 2017!

This was haul was the last bit of clothing I purchased for the youngest two. I love shopping deals and getting great prices. With this haul, I was able to do just that. These stores are some of my most favorite stores to shop for the kids.

Stores I purchased from:
TJ Maxx
Zulily
Kohl’s
The Children’s Place

Changes…

In life there are always changes. Changes in weather, changes in jobs, changing within the family. Sometimes those changes can be difficult. Often times changes can also be against our will. Not something we want but something someone else has done for us. Well, I will be making changes to what I sell, how I sell and where I sell my items. I did the who Etsy store for a while. Yeah, it worked. However, it didn’t give me the traction I was looking for. Although I had orders and people inquiring. I felt like I wanted more. I made sure I had eye-catching images, detailed description and I always made sure to respond as fast as possible to my customers. I felt like I was putting in so much work and not getting half of that back in return. I spent a lot of time with myself going over what I thought the issue could be. What I came up with was… Etsy is saturated with people selling the same things I was selling. I love Etsy and I think they are a great place for people to get started. I just feel like they don’t work for me anymore, especially where I want to be with my small business. Or better yet for the items, I want to sell. Now I am not saying I will never use Etsy again. Just at this point, I feel like I need to venture on and see where the new plan takes me.

With all that being said. I will be selling new items in my new store. I have a few ideas in mind where I plan to open that online store as well as a few ideas of different items to sell. Most custom made items still but then there will be items I don’t make. I want to change the age range I am selling for as well. So if you are a customer of mine from Etsy you will see my shop is on vacation right now. So if you bear with me I will still be selling just not on Etsy.

If I find that Etsy is the best place for me I will go back to it. However, I have to try my new venture with my new products and see where it takes me. Change can be bad and change can be good. For me though, I hope this change turns out for the better.

Back to School Haul | Old Navy!

I love to shop at Old Navy for Kameron. I had a great deal to purchase online so I decided to get a few things for back to school. Though my children don’t return to school until September, it doesn’t hurt to start shopping early. Watch the video to see what I purchased.

Writing Again

Today I began setting up the outline for my new book. It’s been so long since writing Genevieve I began to get comfortable not writing at all. Besides updating my blog all my thoughts have been in my head. One thing I realized when I began laying out the bits and pieces of what the book will entail. My mind went back to school when I hated brainstorming. I know what you are thinking. Nika how can you write your books without brainstorming first. Well for me I always did things backward. I would start writing some of my chapters or bits of the end of my books and then I would brainstorm. When I wrote Genevieve I just started writing without a real plan in mind. Which is why I am not as proud of that piece as others are. From what I hear people loved reading it. So that makes me happy. The book I am working on now, though it is about pieces of my life. I still want it to have meaning and structure.

My advice to you. If you are getting started with a book and don’t know where to start. Brainstorming is the first thing you need to do. One thing that also helps me is getting a notebook, journal or loose leaf paper to write down tips, chapter changes, plot changes and so on. Honestly, some of you think this is my second book. It’s not. I have been writing my entire life. This will just be the second book I am allowing others to read.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have in starting your own book or other pieces of literary work. Happy writing!

Saying Goodbye to my 30’s!

Hello Everyone,

For those of you who don’t know, today is my birthday. I am 40!!!! Wow, I know I can hardly believe it myself. Every year in my life has been some kind of journey. Believe me, when I tell you, my 30’s had a whole lot of up, downs, tragedy, happiness and so on.

Some of the things I am most proud about are:
The births of my last two children
3 of my children graduating high school
2 grandkids born
I wrote my first book
Started my YouTube channels
Started Blogging
This list goes on and on. While those things were great. There were also some bad times. The most tragic being my near-death health scare. Which left me looking at life differently since 2010. Today I welcome 40 with open arms as a proud mother, wife, & grandmother. I am looking forward to the future.
